Contraindication

Hypersensitivity.

Mode of Action

Butamirate is reported to have a central action that is used as a cough suppressant in non-productive cough.

Precaution

Pregnancy and lactation.

Side Effect

Rarely, skin rash, nausea, diarrhoea or dizziness.

Interaction

Concomitant use of expectorants may lead to retention of mucous in the resp system, which can increase the risk of bronchospasm and airway infection
